Born in Mocksville, NC during the winter of 1940, Joe Jackson Gibbs had always seemed destined for greatness. Obsessed with sports throughout his youth, Gibbs naturally chose a career in professional sports. His career began by coaching college football and eventually led to his role as head coach for the Washington Redskins for 12 consecutive seasons from 1981 through 1992. During his tenure, he led the Redskins to eight playoff games, winning four NFC Championship titles and three Super Bowl titles and for this has been enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
PROUD COACH JOE GIBBS WITH THREE SUPER BOWL CHAMPION TROPHIES IN ONLY 12 YEARS
In 1982, The Washington Redskins defeated the Miami Dolphins 27–17 in Super Bowl XVII with the help of Quarterback Joe Theismann. Although the Redskins made it to Super Bowl XVIII in 1983, they lost to the Los Angeles Raiders 38–9. They would not appear at the Super Bowl again until 1987 when they defeated the Denver Broncos at Super Bowl XXII 42–10 with the assistance of Quarterback Doug Williams. Their last appearance at the Super Bowl under Gibbs’ direction was in 1991 when they defeated the Buffalo Bills 37–24 at Super Bowl XXVI with Quarterback Mark Rypien. Gibbs combined .683 winning percentage is surpassed only by Vince Lombardi (.740) and John Madden (.731) and he is the only coach to win multiple Super Bowls with different quarterbacks.
COACH JOE GIBBS IN ACTION ON THE REDSKINS GRIDIRON
Gibbs shocked his fan base and NFL colleagues when he announced his retirement in 1993, after the completion of the 1992 season. He expressed a desire to spend more time with his family although many speculated that the long-term stress of his job had begun to cause some health problems for him. Interestingly, he immediately switched his focus and built a NASCAR team, Joe Gibbs Racing which won three championships under his ownership: one with former driver Bobby Labonte and two with Tony Stewart.
WASHINGTON REDSKINS HEAD COACH JOE GIBBS WITH HIS SKILLED NFL PLAYERS
On January 7, 2004, Gibbs came out of retirement to rejoin the Redskins as head coach and team president, signing a 5-year, $28.5 million contract. Although the exact details are unknown, Washington Redskin’s owner Daniel Snyder reportedly lured him back with an in-person plea to Gibbs. Although he was contracted for five years, Gibbs only coached for four seasons (2004-2008) with a disappointing record considering his prior accomplishments. It would seem that his moment had passed. Since the end of the 2007 season, he has been a Special Advisor to owner Daniel Snyder.

DURING PRACTICE
Gibbs now lives in North Carolina with his wife Pat. Together they raised two sons, JD and Cory who have given them eight grandchildren. When Gibbs left Joe Gibbs Racing to return to the Washington Redskins, his son JD took over the NASCAR teams as president and Cory joined him as an assistant coach of the Redskins. Throughout his coaching career, Gibbs was well-known for working long hours and maintaining a superior work ethic. He exhibited an amazing talent for transforming average players into NFL superstars.
COACH JOE GIBBS LEADING HIS TEAM TO VICTORY

At Mr. Amyx’s request Coach Gibbs autographed an Official Super Bowl Football from the January 26, 1992 World Championship Game. On the football, Coach Gibbs wrote, in bold silver ink: "Coach Joe Gibbs, World Champions 82, 87, 91." Raleigh DeGeer Amyx is proud to include this piece of sports memorabilia in his collection of museum-quality artifacts.

It pleases us to feature the Dignified Official White House State Dinner Service of William Jefferson Clinton.
Bill Clinton (1993 to 2001) – This New Official White House China, By Lenox, of Trenton, New Jersey, was Commissioned for the 200th Anniversary of The White House. However, it did not arrive until after the Presidential Election of November 2000. This was a convenient arrival date, for the Clinton's, in that most Press Attention was focused in the direction of the new President-Elect - George W. Bush. Thus less attention was paid to the arrival of this Elegant 300 total piece Presidential Set, as approved of and ordered by President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton.
PRESIDENT WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON AND FIRST LADY HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON
For reasons unknown, the Press often focuses concentrated attention on any White House China ordered by an Incumbent President. And, in the past, the comments by the Press have often been negative. This is always difficult to comprehend in that so many modern President's and First Ladies receive Private Funds for the expensive Official White House Services presented by them for permanent inclusion into The White House China Collection. In other words, some of the World's most beautiful Presidential Porcelain arrives at The White House at zero expense to the American taxpayers.
The Clintons took a totally different approach in that they eschewed the nearly always previously ordered Official Presidential Seal and instead depicted the imposing 12" Service Plate with a Gold rendition of the Executive Mansion itself. And the Service Plate was the only one of the set with an Enormous Gilded Gold Band.
THE ELEGANT 12" SERVICE PLATE IN CELEBRATION OF THE 200TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE WHITE HOUSE FEATURES A GOLD RENDITION OF THE EXECUTIVE MANSION
The other pieces of this 12 Piece Place Setting (total of 300 pieces), of the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Service, all featured architectural designs from the State Dining room, The East Room and Diplomatic Reception Room - within the Gold Band.
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNS ARE FEATURED ON ALL REMAINING PIECES OF THE WHITE HOUSE CHINA AS ORDERED BY PRESIDENT WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON AND FIRST LADY HILLARY CLINTON
In this particular presentation, All photos pertaining to Official White House China of the Clinton Administration are courtesy of The White House and in particular The White House Curator - William Allman.

Exquisite Hand-Accomplished Beaded Suede Moccasins Late 19th Century. These Moccasins were created by an Artistic Kickapoo Indian sometime around 1875. The Kickapoos are believed to branch-off from the Iroquois Tribe. Today it is believed that Less than one thousand Kickapoos survive, in The United States.
GEORGEOUS NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN MOCCASINS - CIRCA 1875 KICKAPOO INDIANS
The word Moccasin originated in America, approximately 1610 - and came from The Algonquin Tribe. Moccasins are a heel-less shoe made entirely of soft leather, such as Deerskin. The Sole is then brought up and attached to a piece of U-shaped leather right on the top of the foot. And then the Native American Artwork begins. When done as perfectly as this pair are, they are without question, a work of Art - even more so, 135 years after the fact.
A RADIANT NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN IN ELEGANT REPOSE - NATIVE AMERICANS SUCH AS THIS CREATED THE BEAUTIFUL WORK OF ART THAT IS FEATURED WITHIN
These beautiful Indian Moccasins were an important addition to The Raleigh DeGeer Amyx Collection (A.K.A.) The American Heritage Collection. Later this exquisite pair will be shared with an Institution or another Collector of note.

A Majestic White House piece of China once owned and used by President James Monroe and First Lady Elizabeth Monroe has finally been located. This is an extremely rare Presidential Dessert Plate once in the Official White House China Collection - Presently in The Collection of Raleigh Degeer Amyx.
JAMES MONROE'S MAJESTIC WHITE HOUSE DESSERT PLATE
Pictured above is an 8.625" Dessert Plate – French; manufactured by Dagoty and Honore' - Nast Paris. Some attribute this Stunning Plate to Andrew Jackson. Recent investigation concludes that this is not so. After careful research, especially by Robert McNeil and Susan Gray Detweiler, this rendering is more aptly related to the James Monroe Administration – Why? Because the important Mark on the verso of the plate (shown below) was used only during the years 1816-1820 - thus, James Monroe and not Andrew Jackson, as this stunning pattern was so often credited to.
VERSO MARKING OF THE JAMES MONROE WHITE HOUSE SERVICE
Other important points clearly establish the blue bordered service as coming from James and Elizabeth Monroe. Two cups matching this exact same service are currently at the Monroe Museum in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Also in the Monroe Museum is further Provenance of ownership, indicating that it came directly to them via descendants of President and Mrs. Monroe. Also, pieces emanating from two other different Public Collections share a common Provenance through Descendants of Daniel Webster. These are specifically identified as the White House Service having belonged to Elizabeth and James Monroe.
MAJESTIC EAGLE CENTERED ON THE WHITE HOUSE CHINA OF AMERICA'S LAST FOUNDING FATHER - JAMES MONROE
PRESIDENT JAMES MONROE OF VIRGINIA - THE LAST OF THE FOUNDING FATHERS
Today, this Historically Important piece of Presidential Porcelain, once used in The White House, is in The Collection of Raleigh DeGeer Amyx, also known as The American Heritage Collection. By far, most President's did not order Official White House China for The Executive Mansion. They simply made due with the beautiful patterns left there by other Presidents and First Ladies. Thus, White House China, actually used within The White House for Offical purposes, remains one of the rarest and most sought after pieces of History of our Nation's American Heritage.

Geronimo – Indian Name is Translated into “Goyathlay” – (1829-1909) This American Apache Chieftain was Admitted to The Warriors Council in 1846. Early on, it was Obvious to Other Apaches, that Geronimo was a Warrior to be Reckoned With. From 1885 to 1886, Geronimo Led a Furious Uprising Against The American White Settlers. Many Innocent Whites, as well as those Not So Pure, were Killed by His Fellow Warriors and Him. Eventually, Geronimo was Captured by General George Crook. The Ever Repressant, Geronimo, Planned his Own Escape and it Worked. He then Continued to Fight Against The Whites only to Finally Run Out Of Food And Ammunition, Resulting in his Final Surrender to General Miles.
STUNNINGLY FRAMED IN RUST SUEDE - BY RICK BADWEY OF MUSEUM FRAMING - IN OLD TOWN ALEXANDRIA - IS A BOLDLY SIGNED 1904 WORLDS FAIR PROGRAM BY THE GREAT LEADER OF THE APACHE NATION - GERONIMO
Geronimo and The Apache’s that Followed Him were Forcibly Removed to Florida. Eventually, Geronimo, his Family and other Apaches were Resettled into the Oklahoma Indian Territory; Where he Gave Up The Fight Forever and Became a Farmer. By this time, Geronimo's Legend was Well Known Throughout America. In 1904, Geronimo was asked to Appear at The St. Louis World’s Fair. He Really Did Not Want To Do This; but when they said he Could Charge A Fee for His Autograph he Appeared at The World’s Fair in 1904, in Indian Garb, and Signed All Day Long for 50 Cents a Piece — Provided the Paper was Furnished.

Geronimo Wrote his Name in an Unusual Fashion. He would Turn the Page at a 90 Degree Angle and then Began Drawing his Name, rather like a Totem Pole. The above, Boldly Signed Souvenir Album (7.5"x10") is One of Those Very Scarce Surviving Examples. The Fact that Geronimo's Bold Signature is on the Front of the Official Program of the St. Louis World’s Fair, Dramatically Increases its Holographic Value into the Many Thousands of Dollars.

Because of the meticulous care of the Prescription Eyeglasses of John F. Kennedy; they have finally been located. They are now in The Collection of well known Historian and Collector, Raleigh DeGeer Amyx......a good friend of several former members of the United States Secret Service - that served many of our Nation's Presidents.
JOHN F. KENNEDY'S EYEGLASSES AS RECENTLY PRESENTED IN BLUE SUEDE - AND ARCHIVALLY FRAMED
Inspector Floyd Boring, a retired U.S. Secret Service Agent carefully documented and stored away the JFK's Eyeglasses for safekeeping. Inspector Boring was the Secret Service's Inspector directly charged with heading up the White House Detail of John F. Kennedy. He did so during the entire Administration of President Kennedy. Not so many years after the Assassination of the President, both Mr. Amyx and Inspector Boring meticulously put together more detailed written Provenance on the Stationery of the US Secret Service. The Provenance was signed by Inspector Floyd Boring.
HISTORIAN & COLLECTOR RALEIGH DEGEER AMYX AND SECRET SERVICE INSPECTOR FLOYD BORING IN 1984
Today, the Prescription Eyeglasses of JFK are handsomely and archivally framed; and often seen by numerous others during special tours conducted by Mr. Amyx. The reason that Floyd Boring (1915 – 2008) was often in possession of JFK's eyeglasses, was primarily because the President did not like his pockets encumbered with 3-D items. Accordingly, Floyd Boring not only carried the eyeglasses of The President but Cash as well. Why Cash? Because JFK usually had none. In fact, Inspector Boring would sit next to the President during Mass and slip him a $100.00 bill to be placed in the collection plate. Later that same day Boring would appear in the office of Evelyn Lincoln, the President's Secretary, and he would be reimbursed one-hundred dollars out of petty cash. Evelyn Lincoln served as JFK's Secretary for twelve consecutive years and her office was located in the White House adjacent to the Oval Office. Mrs. Lincoln was also well acquainted with Raleigh DeGeer Amyx. She also contributed to Amyx's well known Collection, also known as The American Heritage Collection.
PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY AND HIS SECRETARY EVELYN LINCOLN AT WORK IN THE WHITE HOUSE
Later, Raleigh DeGeer Amyx had the historic good fortune of obtaining the prescription eyeglasses of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy as well as those of Sen. Ted Kennedy. Since then, both of their Prescription Eyeglasses have been framed with similar presentation impact. In fact, the framing of the Kennedy brothers Eyeglasses are as impressive as the hand-wrapped suede framing as seen on the President's Eyeglasses at top. All framing in the Raleigh Degeer Amyx Collection was accomplished by Rick Badwey of Showcase Portfolios located in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.

What did Custer write during the Civil War-at the Battle of Antietam? Not long ago an important hand-written note (ANS) was located, in Virginia, not far from Washington, DC. The contents reveal a hands-on Battle Commander who at the moment of writing just happened to be Captain George Armstrong Custer. The rank of General would be George Custer's within two years.
CAPTAIN GEORGE ARMSTRONG CUSTER'S IMPORTANT HAND-WRITTEN 1862 NOTE (ANS) - AUTHORED BY HIM AT THE SCENE OF THE FEROCIOUS BATTLE OF ANTIETAM - JUST AS THE CONFEDERATES WERE RETREATING
George Armstrong Custer – (1839 1876) was a Captain of the Army of the Potomac in 1862. The above Autographed Note Signed, by the Dashing young Captain Custer, was written during the Retreat of the Confederates - at Antietam in 1862. And a zealous young battlefield Captain (Custer) was in Hot Pursuit of the Confederates. Custer hurriedly writes from the Antietam Battlefield...."Col. Colburn ...We have captured another gun...a 12 pdr brass howitzer...Custer". At that time the Brash young Cavalry Captain was attached to the Command of Major General George McClellan.

When all is said on both sides, George Custer's Military Philosophy seemed to equal this: To be Eminently Successful on a field of Battle; pitch in against all odds and then extricate oneself-as well as your troops-if the going gets rough. At Battle of Little Bighorn not even Custer could save himself. For this truly was....."Custer's Last Stand"
MAJ. GEN. GEORGE ARMSTRONG CUSTER
Provenance: Preserved among the Civil War Papers of Union General Henry Jackson Hunt (1819 – 1889), an aid-de-camp of Gen. George McClellan - at Antietam - Later The Army of the Potomac's Chief of Artillery - with the rank of Major General. General Hunt would have been handed the Antietam Note from the recipient - Col. Colburn.

According to a White House Maid of 30 years, Viola "Big Mama" Wise, this textured Sterling Silver Hairbrush was used on John F. Kennedy, as an infant, as well as many years later, on The Hair of The President's son, JFK Jr., while he was a Toddler at The White House. Apparently, the President and First Lady included this hairbrush among their personal belongings when they arrived at The White House on January 20, 1961.

Perhaps it was rather automatic that it would be used on JFK JR., and it was. John F. Kennedy Jr., was a small infant when he arrived at the White House in 1961, and Viola Wise sometimes looked after him, which would include brushing JFK jr.'s hair, as needed.
