Ben Hogan

Ben Hogan (1912-1997) - Shown above in 8"x10" Photographic Format Signed
with a Silver Ink Pen. This Item was Obtained at the Request of Sam Snead for Raleigh DeGeer Amyx. And this was The Only Reason Mr. Amyx was to Receive
a Format Rarely Used by Ben Hogan, the word "Bantam". -- Ben Hogan is
Generally Considered one of the 5 Greatest Golfers of all Time.

Born within 6 Months of 2 other Legendary Greats, Sam Snead and Byron Nelson, with whom he Caddied while a Boy in Texas.

Hogan is noted for his profound influence on the Golf Swing Theory as well as his Legendary Ball Striking Ability. He won a Career Total of 64  (4th All Time) Sanctioned Tournaments as well as 9 of Golf's Majors.

BEN HOGAN - FOCUS
Hogan was known to practice so much that
among his contemporaries it was often said

"Hogan Invented Practice".

Although of Slight Build at 5'7" and 140 Pounds,
he Earned the Nickname "Bantam", because
he was so Long Off the Tee and Often Competed
in Long Drive Contests. Hogan was Perhaps
the Only Professional Golfer to Not Only
Practice but Play Golf Professionally while
Never Wearing a Golf Glove.
Tiger Wood's is quoted as saying of Ben Hogan that he "Owned His Swing". -- According to Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer and others, Hogan could be Stern and
Remote. While he had an Engaging Smile Off and On, his Icy Glare was well
known to many - most especially his fellow Touring Pros.

ESPECIALLY HIS FELLOW PROS
Sam Snead told Mr. Amyx that during a Golf Tournament He, Snead, Needed a Ride to a Motel. He told Ben Hogan this as they were Both Through Playing for the Day and Hogan was Loading his Golf Bag into the Trunk of His Car. Ben Hogan refused Sam Snead a Ride, saying he was Not Going That Way. Similarly, Arnold Palmer finds it hard to this day to have a Kind Word about Ben Hogan Personally - other than the Golfing Fact that he was and is a Consummate Professional of Golf.
